Q: Can you use the RieberLok™ restraint gasket on any plastic pipe and fitting?

A: The RieberLok™ restraint gasket is only recommended for use in ANSI/AWWA C900 pipe and fittings that were originally manufactured with a Rieber gasket.

Q: Can I install the RieberLok™ restraint gasket incorrectly?

A: It is possible to install the RieberLok™ restraint gasket backwards. Install the Rieberlok™ restraint gasket with the face marked “Install This Face Out” facing the installer.

Q: When and where do you lubricate the RieberLok™ restraint gasket?

A: Never lubricate the pipe bell socket or the socket side of the RieberLok™ restraint gasket. Only apply a light coating of lubricant to the first 2–3 inches of the beveled spigot end and the surface of the installed RieberLok™ restraint gasket. Make sure the pipe bell socket and the beveled spigot end are clean and free of any debris.

Q: Can you use the RieberLok™ restraint gasket in bridge crossings or under railroads?

A: The RieberLok™ restraint gasket is not recommended for use in any dynamic environment.

Q: Can the RieberLok™ restraint gasket be used in casings?

A: The RieberLok™ restraint gasket can be used in straight casings, only if the pipe is pulled through the casing. It should not be pushed through or used in curved installations.
